I am only 43.
I already claim the lower mobility rate of DLA and haven't yet been switched to PIP.
I also asked specifically about grants and who qualify, I don't need people telling me I should sell my house - how do any of you know that I'm not going to do that anyway as soon as I get the essential work done??? It can't be sold to anyone in it's current state. I'm not asking the state to fund my lifestyle, just enquiring what I may be entitled to. I've already realised I will have to sell before long. There's hardly anything cheaper in my area and due to the nature of my illnesses I can't move far and the move itself will make me more ill.
Thanks for the info about the Anchor Trust. I'll look into that.
If the repairs are paid for by a third party they are likely going to stipulate that you can't sell for x years, they aren't there to increase the profit you make when you sell up.0 -

You seriously can't expect a grant to improve your home therefore increasing your selling price and profit then sell.
The house will sell even if only developers though less profit for you this way. If you speak to your local authority and get someone from the housing department out to inspect your home they can help. Ie if they deem it as uninhabitable they can house you in temporary accommodation. This means you are safe whilst you sell your home.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -

The OP has to pay for that temporary accommodation out of the equity released from the sale of the home and the temporary accommodation will most probably just be a local B&B with an en-suite only. You don't get a house or a flat and unlikely to even get a kitchen.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

OP as you own your home outright would you be able to release some equity in the property to carryout repairs.0
