When can I switch?

My current deal comes to an end on the 12th Dec (Collective switch on here last year) with E.on. I believe you can switch in the 50 days before it ends, which I think is late next week.
I've been on uSwitch as they have a good deal on at the mo, however it says I have to pay the fee to leave my current tariff (even though the new one is with e.on as well).
Can I set it up now as it isn't likely to switch until I'm in the 50 days? Or do I need to wait until I'm in the 50 days to apply for it?

If you are switching within E.On, even using a switch site, you can do it now without penalty. This has been confirmed by the reps on here several times.0

My electric deal comes to an end on the 4th and the gas a few days later.
According to their website I will have to pay £5 to switch right now.0 -
Rules are 42 to 49 days before your tariff ends supplier should notify you and no penalty is payable if you switch certainly on day 41 .0

Eon have notified me saying it's time to pick a new tariff. Even if I go through a switching site, if that going to be ok if I'm staying with them? It's not in the 50 days yet?
Also has anyone cancelled a switch with first utility? I cancelled the registration thing online, is that enough or should I call them to do it?0 -

Morning ADChick,
You won't be charged the cancellation fee as you're changing to another E.ON tariff even though it's through a third party site, so all will be ok.
Hope this helps.
