making iphone battery last as long as possible

Hi guys,
I'm about to go on a charity walk which will last 8 days and will be walking around 11 hours a day, I'm going to be using my iphone 5 mainly for music, occasional text and call and maybe gps should I need it. I have a 5ah dewalt battery and usb adaptor which will give me around a dozen charges so I'm confident that realistically I don't need to worry too much about battery consumption ( I'll be able to recharge properly over night) but just wondering if there's any handy tips on things to switch off etc just to make the most of the battery?
I plan to keep it mainly on airplane mode anyway.

Close any apps you're not using, airplane mode as much as possible, screen brightness as low as possible.

If you're intending on using air plane mode and therefore playing music from the phone which will use the most battery, why not just get a cheap mp3 player or an ipod shuffle. Even an iphone battery might last all day then.

Have you tested your dewalt setup to ensure it will last the course? I have a 5Ah (5000mah) battery pack which will barely charge my phone twice. Of course that should be OK if you can charge both at night.

Yeah have tested the battery set up and got 9 charges before I stopped but the battery still had juice so could probably get another 1 or 2, and I'll be taking two batteries.
I originally intended on getting just an mp3 player, but the music I'll be using on the phone is via offline spotify playlists.
