I am thinking of buying the Drayton central heating controller miGenie.
It appears to provide for operation via an Android App:

But there is no mention of its running on a normal Windows PC.
It is a shame that Schneider / Drayton have neglected PC users

I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

It don't think it will install.
I tried to install an Android app, on a PC.
It wouldn't download, and instead gave the message "You have no devices".0 -
Hi,
I use the Bluestacks App player, then go the the playstore from there.
I've installed the Worcester Bosch Wave Android app into the Bluestacks player and can control my heating from my PC and phone with no problems.

Has performance improved with BS over last 12 months? Ran like crap on my surface pro.0

Thank you all for the answers. Excuse me for asking a very basic question that may sound silly to some.
Apps used on a mobilephone require the use of fingers. When installed on a conventional screen plus keyboard can the keyboard substitute for fingers? Or are some apps always finger dependent.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -

You can actually run Android apps from a pc
If you need to, it's the same way dev use to make Android apps in the first place,
Search for the "Android sdk" and download/install (it's free from Google, legit)
Yes, you're now able to make apps, but more to the point, run a simulator on your pc that is, a pretend phone.
No this isn't suitable for most cases, but as a last (and free) resort, you got Android apps on your pc. I will also add this isn't for the pc novice, but it doesn't involve programming.
Depending on how often you intend to use this app, might be worth buying a cheap second hand device from somewhere if cost is a factor, otherwise you can get new smart phone from about £60-£70 as long as you don't mind a slow phone, it will do the trick--
greatest achievement was flying true solo on my 1st day @ flying scholarship. I put this down to 3 things.. 1) Luck 2) Lax rules back then 3) MS flight SIM 5 & joystick!
My worst was becoming mentally ill. The flying school wrote 3 yrs later asking me to come back as instructor, I had to decline on health.. Advice: live to the max each day0 -
There are some emulators listed here...

Since the PC is presumably at the home where the heating has to be controlled, it would seem a little pointless to be able to control it from a PC.The purpose of the app is to be able to control it from outside the home.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

i wouldn't rely on the simulator, its terrible, most devs dont use it, instead they test on the actual device instead.
None of the apps i've made work on the simulator at all, and others run really slow. There is an x86 simulator you can run in a virtual machine thats better, but you have to compile the apps for x86, so no good for someone elses apps0
