Stephen does that mean I can safely remove the adhesive beam deflectors on my (ex French) Ducato?

    Theoretically, I suppose it does.

.../dare I say even get normal 55W halogens!!
Proper xenon installed lights are a sealed unit and cannot be fitted with halogen bulbs. You will see bulbs with xenon gas in them for standard headlight bulbs so they burn brighter, but they don't beat xenon's.

I currently use Philips x-treme power bulbs - see http://www.xp-lamp.com/ which claim up to 80% more light. There is a difference but for me it's not as amazing as their literature makes out. Probably due to restrictions of the reflector in my headlight. Difference is perhaps most noticeable in reflections off roadsigns in the distance. THey are road legal as they are e marked.

As the difference isn't amazing I picked up the +50% brighter pair of bulbs from when I saw them for £2.99 in Lidl as spares.
