Pollycat above is correctly sceptical about what your enquiry to easyjet actually asked.
Can you paste the reply that you refer to here:
However when we checked with easyJet directly via email to confirm, they said perfume is not allowed in the hand luggage and that it most go in the luggage hold.
Obviously remove any personal information, but I would like to see where Easyjet explicitly state you can't take perfume in hand luggage.
I have travelled dozens of times on EJ and others and taken aftershave through in hand luggage, so am also sceptical that you received this statement in writing from Easyjet....0
