Let me first acknowledge that this is an economy laptop and as such won't have that many bells and whistles .

That said the sound level on the machine is woeful. Even at maximum it is very low; you certainly couldn't watch a DVD on it or listen to music. Put on headphones and the sound is great.

From what I've read on other sites there does seem to be a issue with the speakers if that is so then is it possible to replace the speakers with better quality ones? Would you recommend a suitable brand for this machine. It wouldn't be me who would be doing the work but my geeky nephew next time he's home and I can pin him down

As always many thanks for your input

Kevin

Forget about it. Just use external speakers.

The short answer is you can't replace Laptop Speakers.

The long answer is that you technically can but it'll involve modding the case because they tend to be either molded to the case or contoured specifically to that model of PC, and you'lll need to be very wary of things like voltages and cutting off or impeding airflow in the case. All of this will void your laptop warranty at a minimum and also quite possibly wreck it unless you really know what you're doing.

If the internal speakers can't have their volume + performance improved any more via fiddling with the settings (usually quite possible: turning on options like 'Loudness Equalisation' in your Audio Driver or changing from Multispeaker to Stereo in Window's own Control Panel dialogs, etc) then go with Headphones or external speakers.

You don't even need POWERED external speakers, you could run something like this from the laptop's USB slot... ;)

Give an example of when it would be an issue, as I can't think of one.

Mini Bluetooth speakers for example. Of course you can go for better quality. Just posted an example.
