Where in Dubai do you want to be? City or beach? It is a big place!
    Gone ... or have I?

you have to be careful where you stay - some of the areas (bur dubai) in the cheaper hotels are frequented by prostitutes. Have a look at trip advisor for hotel advice.

But where do you want to be near?! Shopping malls or beach?

Also, you mentioned the Ramee, there are two or three with that name, do you know which it is?

Don't be too concerned about taxi fares, they are not expensive at all x

I would be seriously worried about anything cheaper in Dubai. As mentioned a lot of the cheapest places double up as brothels, and even they are not really cheaper than than £29. If it looks good on Trip Advisor, i'd go with it. The only cheaper alternatives I know about involve sharing a room with strangers..

OK, in that case you need to be looking at the Deira, airport, and Bur areas.

For the prices that you are looking at, take a look at www.hostelworld.com.

However, as mummymania said, check out the hotels on www.tripadvisor.co.uk before booking. Dubai is great, and incredibly safe, but I would not fancy staying at some of the budget hotels there.
