Fridge freezer on extension lead?

I have a new fridge freezer and am waiting for a new socket to be fitted. Meanwhile is it safe to use an extension lead so long as it is the only appliance plugged in? The booklet says no :(

    Yes, that's fine.
  • Provided the extension lead is correctly rated for the required amperage, and as fridge freezers don't use a lot of amps it is very unlikely not to be, then as a short term solution it should be perfectly safe.

Make sure the flex is fully uncoiled if it is a coiled type, make sure no one else can mess with it or add other devices to it and make sure it is not a trip hazard for anyone using the fridge freezer.
