O/S Daily Thread Friday 16th October 2015

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Chin up, Titus out.

Hubby has a couple of days holiday so in theory I don't have to be up yet, but I'm awake & have been since 4am.
I've fed the fish, unloaded the DW, set the WM going & had a browse online, I don't need to set off for work for another hour or so yet.
After all the times we've tried to persuade BIL to visit his mum to no avail, last night he was on the phone repeatedly. He wanted us to drive to the hospital last night, he wants us all to speak to the hospital to DEMAND a cure. He want's us to hassle his mum in to going back home & getting better. As usual for him it's all me, me, me. He isn't thinking of her & the pain she's in, he just wants everything to go back to how it was. He phoned again and again until he'd drunk enough to fall asleep! I understand that he is upset, but he lives a 10 minute drive from the hospital, he doesn't drive but his DS, DD & GF all do. It would take us an hour and a half to get there even if I could see to drive at night, which I can't!
Sorry for the rant, but he is so selfish & I'm expecting the phone calls to start again by 7 am.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

HH what a spoiled man. I hope your mil Remains comfortable.
    Hugs to hilstep.

Well this is my last day in Spain, the weather's been glorious and we've been on the beach a few times, even managed a few dips in the med. Oh yes, the course is quite challenging but a good ground group to work with.

Far too much food on offer but it would be rude to refuse! Take care. Xx

  • Morning! HH that all sounds very wearing and thoughtless.
Today is my day off aka working at home, have been up since 4.30 as could not sleep. Washing can go on the line as soon as it is light enough. Am trying to decide what to cook this evening and hoping for inspiration as the day unfolds. I am getting a bit cold, trying to resist putting the heating on.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning all. Too dark to see what's going on outside but intermittent sun is forecast for later. Don't know whether to bother hanging the washing out or just dry indoors. Will see what daylight brings!

Never got back on here yesterday for numerous reasons but just caught up with all the posts. ((((((HILSTEP)))))) thinking of you. HESTER you have enough to cope with without your BIL. It's time he grew up. Meanwhile I hope they can keep your MIL comfortable. CAMELOT nice to hear from you.

Yesterday ended up hectic and plans went awry (what's new!) and we ended up having to take middle DGD to her swimming club at short notice (she's as graceful with her swimming as her dancing - really dainty) as DD had got her dates muddled up! We missed tea and finally sat down for something to eat at 7.30. I was beyond starving by then!

DS is trying to get next Tuesday off work to take us to Liverpool for the 10.30 app with the consultant. It will mean an early start as we'll be caught in the rush hour traffic for the first leg.

Dusting, vaccing and cleaning to be caught up on today. I hate Fridays! As far as meal planning goes, it will be a delve in the freezer but will probably be fish of some sort. Quick and easy to deal with.

Have a good day all (((((((HUGS))))))) to anyone else who needs/wants them. Take care xx

    ìHola!
Well the rain forecast for this morning has not materialised, opened the blinds to be blinded by the sun.

HH Glad you remembered the word "NO";) Tempted by the ruling to go after your ex?

Not sure what today holds, it was going to be a paperwork and crochet day with the rain, but will do an hour on the paperwork and then get some sun time if it lasts.

((hugs)), spoons, and positive vibes all round, take care everyone. DG

    Morning all.

Thinking of Hilstep and Hester today. I caught up with yesterday's thread last night but felt too ill to post. I hope you find some sort of peace in the dark place your both in.

I'm ill. Good job my Grandson was happy to amuse himself yesterday as I was fit for nothing. I should have popped down the chemist yesterday but my daughter brings my Grandson to me in his night clothes complete with big fleecy dressing gown but forgot his coat and it was too cold to go out without it.

Problems afoot between youngest daughter and hubby. It's coming Christmas and they are rowing over money. She likes to spend and he likes to save. He gave her £400 Christmas money and she wants more. Talk about a spoiled child! Not happy she couldn't get any more money out of hubby she has put pressure on me to extend my generosity to our Grandson as she's seen this Postman Pat set she's seen in the sales.

Youngest has had a hard time with his Dad last night. Hubby had got one on him and looks like he took it out on Youngest...telling him who he could mix with and who he couldn't....Hubby seems to forget...Youngest is nearly 20 not 10 and Youngest is too respectful to argue back....So I see a miserable weekend ahead of me.

    Onwards and forwards,

    Have a great day all.
