Winter fuel Allowance.
My DH gets the winter fuel allowance for the first time this year. He applied by phone a couple of months back, and the woman said because he'd applied early, it should go into his bank account before Christmas.
Do you get a letter or email telling you when it's going in, or do you have to keep checking your bank account?
Thanks,
Candy.

You usually get a letter, sometimes two - it's a real waste of money. All they have to do is put it into your account.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

Only one or two letters, matelodave? I know one pensioner who got FOUR letters about it, all sent on the same day - as you say, a waste of money and if you get an email about it then such an email should be treated as a SCAM attempt and deleted without (if possible) reading the thing.0

Do you get a letter......or do you have to keep checking your bank account?
You do get a letter.....which arrives about five days after the money has gone into your account.
You just have to keep checking your account. The payment will have as reference the National Insurance Number and "DWP WFP". Once the payment pattern is established, it will arrive the same time each future year (in my case it's the second Monday of November).0 -
Thanks everyone.
