Joint club lloyds account

Has anybody managed to open a joint clud Lloyds bank account online, as an existing club Lloyds customer . If so , how did you achieve it ? I can find how to add a name to an existing account , tried applying as a new customer ,application was rejected presumably because you can only have one solo account. Didn`t even get to credit check stage. Debating whether its possible to open a classic account ,add a second name then upgrade it to club Lloyds . But rather not end up with a joint account I cant upgrade. Any thoughts?

As an existing Club Lloyds account holder you cannot open or upgrade a second account, even if it is joint, to Club online. It will require a visit to a branch.
Does the proposed joint account holder already have a Club account too?
If not they could apply online then add you.

Alas, they won't allow you to upgrade a classic account to a Club Lloyds if you already have a Club Lloyds. Try it - - I reckon you will get a message saying "Sorry, but we're unable to add Club Lloyds to your account. Please contact your branch who will be happy to discuss this with you." That's at least what I get when I try to upgrade an existing Vantage account.

If the other party is new to Club Lloyds, they would be able to start the online application, following the guidance on http://www.lloydsbank.com/current-accounts/joint-account.asp#tab-row-2

If you are both existing Club Lloyds customers, I reckon you need to go into a Branch to get a joint Club Lloyds.

Thanks both, yes we are both existing club Lloyds customers. we have just opened a classic joint account and guess what ,it wont let me upgrade it. Looks like we will have to go into the branch, not to worry, nothing ventured nothing gained. Both got regular savers maturing and running out of places to put it. Problems !!!

We have a joint Club Lloyds. We did it all by telephone.

We got it by first making a Classic with Vantage account I had into a joint account. This required 2 phone calls, one to me and one speaking to my husband.

We do not have any Lloyds branches closer than about 100 miles, so I checked first that it would work.

So having got a joint account we were then able to phone up to have it upgraded to a Club Lloyds, a slightly shorter call when we both had to talk to someone.

Edit: should have said....we both already had sole Club Lloyds accounts and Classic/Vantage accounts.

We have a Joint and two sole accounts now ;)

Initially Mrs B had a sole Club Lloyds account

I opened-Online- a Sole Club Lloyds for me-and then as per the process applied to make this into a joint account by adding Mrs B.

IIRC I had to ring to do this

Once it was made into a joint account (2 days IIRC) I then applied for a sole account.

    Relatively painless and quick TBHO.
  • I also want a joint one but am denied even a sole one. I applied for a sole Club Lloyds last night but at the end, where it says 'please wait a few seconds while we check your details', the circle thing just went round and round for 40 minutes. Well, I had to go to bed so closed down the PC. In the morning, there was no email acknowledgement that an application had even been made, but when I applied again this morning it comes up with 'According to our records, you have already applied for a current account with us recently. Unfortunately, we're not able to consider another application at the moment.'
    What should I do?
