DVLA Register Car/V5 to Wrong Address but Right Name
Did a quick search but didn't find anything on here although Google brought up a few results from a few years ago.
I bought a car in July 2015 and completed the V5C with my details, seller was to post it and I kept the V5C/2. By early Sept I'd not heard anything and online the car was not showing as having had an owner change so I submitted a V62 and included the V5c/2 slip with it. Fortunately I kept a copy of these documents before I posted them.
I've still not heard back from DVLA so phoned them today. Apparently the car has been registered in my name but not to my address and the V62 has not yet been processed. So it appears the original V5C has been received but somehow they've managed to enter an incorrect address.
Anyone else had a similar situation? Seems crazy that an incorrectly entered address can cause so much hassle. I filled in the form so I know it's my address on it but unfortunately I didn't keep a copy of the reverse - only the front of the V5C.

When I moved house last I updated my address and they changed it to the right street but wrong house number and post code. Luckily the postman knew my name so put it through the right door door and could send it back.
The next one came with the right address but they spelt my name incorrectly so had to be returned again.
Third time lucky. You would think the quality control would be better for an important document.0 -
I've done a bit of checking and it looks like they may have transposed letters on the postcode. Very surprised that they don't validate that the street is actually matching the one that the postcode generates but it looks like its not just me.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Last three cars have been registered to the wrong address (mis-spelling) or wrong name (mis-spelling).
What's daft is that in all cases I'd gone to the trouble of entering the optional licence number details and my licence is correct... so you'd think it would auto-populate from that and there'd be no excuse.0 -
A person in my street registered a car a few weeks ago and it send to my house. It said number 22 but she lived at 33 so either someone entered it wrong or they could not read the writing. I tracked her name on the electrol role and handed it to her. All she needed to do was fill in the correct address and send it back off.
Thing is I dont know if she was happy that i gave it to her or worried that i tracked her down0 -

So hopefully with a V62 and returned documents they may finally be able to get their act together and issue a V5 in the correct name to the correct address. It's 3 months today that I bought the car, I wonder how long before the correct paperwork is finally with me.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
