I am filling in a claim form for the above. They are asking about other people in my house, I have 2 sons over 18 both unemployed but NOT claiming any benefits. Is that going to affect my claim for HB?

Non-dependant deductions start from the date the adult moves in or turns 18 or the Housing benefit claim starts
If a non-dependant adult lives in your home and doesn't work, your housing benefit is reduced by £14.55 each week if they are:
aged 18 or over and not in paid work
aged 25 and over and on IS or income-based JSA
any age and getting income related ESA after passing the work capability assessment
A non-dependant deduction doesn't apply to a person who is under 25 and claiming:
income-based jobseeker's allowance (JSA)
income support (IS)
income-related employment support allowance (ESA), for the first 13 weeks of their claim only
universal credit (and has no earned income)
A non-dependant deduction doesn't apply to a full-time student during term time or during holidays if they are not working.
Your housing benefit is not reduced if you or your partner:
are registered blind or have regained your sight in the past 6 months
receive the care component of disability living allowance (DLA)
receive attendance allowance
receive the daily living component of personal independence payment (PIP) or armed forces independence paymentSpelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

If they are not claiming benefits your HB will be deducted by £14.55/week for each of them so a total of £29.10. If they were to claim benefits (eg income based JSA) and as they are under 25 the deductions would not apply.

Having 2 sons over 18 in your property means you will get the 3 bed LHA rate.
Do you privately rent or live in social housing?
When you moved in could you afford the rent and have you claimed HB in the previous 52 weeks? These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
It's a housing association house. When I moved in 22 years ago 1 was a baby the other wasn't born.
Yes I have claimed in the last 52 weeks.
I don't understand what you mean LHA rate?0 -
LHA will not apply as it is for private rentals0

It's not privately rented.0
