Permitted Development

I understand you can currently add a loft conversion and extend a kitchen up to 6m from the back wall under temporary extended Permitted Development rights but does anyone know when these rights expire? Or is the government implementing them as standard now?
I've noticed a hell of a lot of lofts going up all of a sudden in my neighbourhood and wander wether this was prompted by the rights coming to an end soon.

there was no temporary extension to PD rights on loft conversions. Most loft conversions fall under PD rights all the time.
What you're seeing is the signs of economic confidence on the part of homeowners.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

As above, PD rights don't have an expiry date but they can be withdrawn from a local authority (usually during the planning stage of new build development if there are concerns about cramming).
I guess its also possible that if you're on a new build estate, that there was a time limited restriction on permitted development rights as part of the original planning permission that has now lapsed. If you're on a new build estate you should be able to find this out from either the original developers or the local planning department.0 -
the extension of permitted development rights for an attached dwelling to 6m is for extensions to be completed before 30th may 2019.
