Dad's mortgage

Hi folks, when being rejected for a mortgage recently I found 2 errors on my credit file. Let's deal with the easiest one first.
12 Years ago my parents took out a mortgage with Nationwide to buy my current house. Unfortunately, my name is similar to my dad's (first and middle named switched around) so his mortgage (complete with his date of birth) appears on my credit report. This means I'm going to struggle to get a mortgage as it appears as if I already have one.
Nationwide have advised me they can't help fix this as I am not a customer of theirs. They suggest dealing with the Credit Reference Agencies (CRA).
The Financial Ombudsman has advised I would need to be a customer or a potential customer of a company before I can make a complaint against them to have it investigated. They can also only deal with one company per complaint so it appears I would have to sign up to every CRA and make an individual complaint against each one that holds incorrect data.
This would mean I would have to pay each company, only to find out if they have made the same mistake. I have no idea how many CRAs there are but if I miss even one, it could still get in the way of my mortgage chances.
The CRA I used (Noddle) were going to be investigating a month ago but so far I have heard nothing back. This suggests that dealing with multiple CRAs could take months of stress and work, to try and fix an error that isn't my own.
My new job I had lined up is already out the window as it isn't local and paying the extra to rent could end up costly while this is ongoing.
Any help/advice would be appreciated as I'm running out of patience with it.

There's three CRAs, two of them will charge £2 for your reports, Noddle is free. SO £4 expenditure in total.
But you also need to push Nationwide, as they are the ones reporting it. Raise a formal complaint.0 -

This shouldn't be an issue in obtaining a new one. If the account has been maintained properly. Even if the mortgage isn't yours.0 -
This isn't an ideal situation and you should carry on with the CRA to try and get this corrected but (as another idea to help speed things up) why doesn't your father complain to the mortgage lender that this information doesn't appear on his report but on yours instead. As a customer of the bank he can make a formal complaint and send a copy of your CRF as evidence of the error. He should ask them to correct this and escalate to the FOS if it remains unresolved.

Thanks folks,
I had found an article on here that said there were 3 main CRAs, suggesting there were more but it looks like the others all get their info from the 3 main ones
My dad works long days and I can't justify asking him to miss a day of work just to phone to sort out a problem that isn't his. I'd have to be with him when he phoned as he is more confused than I am with this.
& Finally the account is being kept up to date, but the advisor I spoke to in my bank told me when my credit file shows I have thousands of pounds on a mortgage that I claim not to have, it will affect my chances of getting a mortgage.0 -
I know Experian have a reporting process where you can highlight errors in your credit file, so just contact them here: EDIT - I can't post links as I'm a newbie, but just Google the following 3 terms and you should get the necessary pages.
1) Experian report errors on credit file.
2) Equifax report errors on credit file.
3) CallCredit report errors on credit file.0 -

Do you want to resolve matters or not? The account holder is the only one with authority.
Draft a detailed letter that your father can sign and send. If finding time to make a phone call is too much trouble.0
