I'm pretty sure this is how a fitter described how he'd approach the job. The channel doesn't go into the bitumous membrane but rather sits on top of it and then gets tiled around after. I think it means a small amount of channelling will be visible above floor level but I'm happy with that if it's safer.
Unless you mean the bottom of the glass doesn't even need a channel but tiles are added around the glass afterwards, so in effect the glass is still 'recessed' into the floor?
Or do you mean tile and sit the glass on top and add silicone?
Sit glass direct on floor tile and silicone
You will still need to silicone even if you use a profile, water will seep into profile through capillary action and out the dry sideHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
I’d fix *metal channel to floor/ wall you can get it any thickness, height colour material etc e.g. http://www.johnsonrollforming.com/display.php/display/A1/category/2 can be placed on wall/ floor before tiling or after
Place rubber, plastic etc gasket in channel then slide glass into that e,g, http://www.westernrubber.com/products/extruded-rubber-products
Grub screws drilled into side of channel tighten on glass if you paranoid ?
Possibly go with very slightly frosted, possibly laminated glass as cheaper? You’re not then forever cleaning it to get rid of water stains etc0
