Switched to MSE Tariff on EON - can I pay extra?
I am on regular monthly payment and it says if I stop that I will lose my tariff
However can I also pay additional amounts and build up a surplus.
It might mean that my monthly payment is almost zero.
Thanks.

Good morning GentleGiant,
I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean
Are you already an E.ON customer?
If so you can continue with your monthly Direct Debit and use the DD tool on your online account to keep the amount accurate and to cover your usage.
Some customers that pay monthly do also make additional payments on to their account via online also, so you can do this.
If you let me know a few more details, I'll be able to help more.
Thank you
Helena

I am on the new MSE Collective tariff.
I am therefore paying by direct debit a set amount each month for both gas & electric.
Now I can leave it at that.
However should I wish to credit my account with money - let's say £25 will that affect my tariff? As wording suggests that unless I leave my DD alone I might be taken off the tariff and be placed on the standard rate.
I had no issues at EDF by crediting my account, but wondered if EON ws different.
I appreciate the facility to make additional payments exist, but did not want to jeopardize my rate, given the wording in the contract - yes I do read these things! The contract does not exclude additional payments, but does hint at not altering or stopping the DD.

I see thank you,
You can make additional payments if you'd like to, it won't change your tariff and you won't be removed from it.
You can also adjust your Direct Debit yourself if you'd like to, using the online DD tool.
Whatever is best for you

The real question is why you would possibly want to do this. Why not keep the money and do something useful with it, rather than hand it over before you need to and gain absolutely nothing?0

Great thanks

Will make additional payments with confidence.0 -

Why not put the "additional payments" in a savings account and get interest on the money, which can then be used if needed to pay to Eon?0
