Very nearly bought one back in June but the Service History showed a late service, not a huge issue but it was still under the 3 yr warranty and I wasn't going to pay for an aftermarket warranty on a 2yr old car.

It is a nice looking little car with decent room in the rear, I only looked at the 5 door.

My old man is a peugeot mechanic and thinks the 208 is a vast improvement from the 207. He's a big guy and loves driving them, even the bottom spec courtesy cars he borrows when having to travel to other sites...
  • I lease a 208 with the higher spec 1.6 diesel engine. Goes well, have covered over 30k in two years, still on the original tyres. Obviously not as fast as the GT spec, but does what it says on the tin.

Downsides - the eco Michelin tyres on the diesel have always seemed a bit wayward on waterlogged roads, even when new. Only average ride on bumpy country roads - that said, most small cars with smaller suspension travel are the same.

On motorways it's a solid performer and will happily eat 1,000 miles in 48 hours. Have done this several times on business, whilst getting 65+ mpg day in day out without trying. Can easily get 80+ mpg hypermiling.

Surprisingly good. I live a long way up a single track, very bumpy road.

Suspension is the noisiest thing - it can thunk and grumble a bit over the biggest bumps, but to be honest I've had that on all cars to some extent.

As yet not a single squeak or rattle on the interior.

For anyone that alternates between children and adults in the back - the killer feature is a push-button control for the child lock feature for the rear doors. Absolutely brilliant invention. Every other car you have to jump out to 'let' adults out of the car because you've forgotten your screwdriver to turn off the child locks...

Why isn't it? Mate beat him. With those cars you're paying more for the badge then actually how fast it is
