Lake District Hostels over Xmas

Hi, I was thinking of getting out of the big smoke of London for Xmas but don't want to go too far. So I thought a few days in the Lake District would be nice.

Does anyone know if hostels in the area will be open over Xmas? Thx.

There are a good dozen Lake Districts around the world - narrowing it down a bit would help!

someanonbloke - the replies you have got are a bit harsh. Yes it is a Foreign Holiday Board and there is a UK Holiday one.

Just Google Youth Hostel and you will find yha.org.uk

Alas, there are many 'Little Britain' losers on this forum who get their kicks from nitpicking. I've had it time and again on here unfortunately.

I just posted quickly without the time to scour the listings.

The actual title of the forum is 'Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning' and so 'travel planning' could mean in the UK too, but perhaps I should have posted in the Little Britain forum.

    It's for overseas travel planning.

However, it looks like quite a few of the hostels are open over Christmas, but unsurprisingly many of them are showing as full (although it could be worth ringing hostels direct, I've managed to find space in the past even when the online system shows them to be full). The ones that do have room (I looked for 24th - 27th) are Grasmere, Borrowdale and Ambleside, but if you extend the search outside the National Park there may be more.

I think there are also some non-YHA hostels, I seem to recall that the YHA hostel in Kendal was sold to a private organisation a few years ago.
