Halifax - Techical Problem During Application

Was opening the Reward current account. It checked my details, then I got the options and agreement page. It said your application has been successful, please check and complete the below so we can open the account. I did so, clicked continue but it came up saying there was a techical problem, this has not been completed, click here to return to the homepage.

I haven't had any emails for them but I assume it's sitting on a system part complete? I don't want to start again if it would credit search again / reject me for supposedly already having the account. Would they be able to retrieve it if I popped into branch?

Thanks

Probably not, I doubt if they have anything to do with online account opening. Better to ring them up as the person you speak to there almost certainly will have the right access.
  • They'll tell you to wait 24 hours and apply again. I don't think a credit search shows up twice, I don't remember seeing one.

Not impressed. Rang them about this to be told they couldn't retrieve the application and I'd have to apply again another day. I did as they said and received my latest credit report, only to discover that they credit searched on both occasions. How can they credit search for something that didn't even get to the agreement page before their site messed up?

I took my ID in last Wednesday as requested and still haven't heard anything from them. Starting to think it's unnecessarily become a borderline case because of this (I also have another Current Account application from January and one from August.) To anyone reviewing the application I probably look like I was declined for another product rather than this screw up.

Update: They got back to me this afternoon and I've been accepted.

Is it worth writing to them and asking for the duplicate search to be removed? I'm in a bit of a dilemma and I don't even know if it's possible to get such a search removed (factually it is correct in a way, I did apply twice, but I only wanted one product.) The second application was on their advice and because of an error with their system.

I don't want to rock the boat as it were as a new customer, but I'm worried that this 4th search might tip the balance if I needed to apply for anything else in the near future (cashback card if mine goes.)

Would you try getting it removed and if so, is there a particular department I should address it to?

    Thanks
