Worcester greenstar cdi 29 boiler help

Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone can help me. I have a Worcester Greenstar Cdi 29 boiler and have had no problems at all until yesterday. I turned my heating on at the thermostat on the wall and the boiler wouldn't fire up and heat my radiators. I had hot water but no heating. I turned it on this morning and it worked and now tonight it won't heat the radiators again. The pressure was low so I did the pressure thing back to 1.5 as that what Worcester recommends but it still won't work. Any ideas as to what it can be before I have to call out someone to fix it. Thanks in advance.

After you pressurised it, did you turn off the boiler using the switch on the boiler to allow the control system to reset? Are/were there any fault lights showing on the boiler control panel? Is it a combi? Strange that it worked for hot water but not heating unless combi. Does the system have a three port valve, maybe it is stuck after not being used through the summer.

This is a combi from your description. The first thing to suspect if it will work on DHW but not on CH (though more often the other way around) is the diverter valve sticking. Combi's can't run both functions at once, it's one or the other.
You'll need an RGI to fix that, if so, it's not a big job.
However if it's losing pressure continually then you have another issue, such as a leak on the CH circuit, lifted PRV, or a faulty EV.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
