How long after mortgage offer can I apply for credit?

Hey all,

I've been reading about stoozing and high interest bank account switching deals for a few months now but since I've been going through the process of applying for a mortgage I've been reluctant to dive in.

My mortgage has now 'gone to offer' and I will be exchanging the house deposit very soon. However the house won't be built until Feb 2016 so the money from
the bank won't actually transfer until then.

Should I still withhold any credit applications until the money has gone through next year or am I good to go with applying for credit cards and opening new bank accounts etc?

I would hold off until the bank has paid the money to the seller (completion). If you look in the T&C of the mortgage you will see something along the lines that the offer can be withdrawn anytime if the lender thinks you are not suitable anymore even after you have exchanged contracts and paid the deposit ... scary right?

After completion you can apply anytime. I applied for a credit card about 3-4 days after my completion and it was approved without any issues.
