A colleague is looking to purchase MS Office for his new Mac and wants to know if he buys this product then does it include everything he needs
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011N73X8O
(click on the button that says 'Mac Online Code' - don;t know how to post the link where it does that automatically)
Its sited as a 'Mac Online Code' so does this mean he can download the software as well from Microsoft or does the software already have to exist on his Mac and this is just an activation for it.
Thanks

It will provide everything listed, only they can know if it is everything they need but it does cover the basics. Its sited as a 'Mac Online Code' so does this mean he can download the software as well from Microsoft or does the software already have to exist on his Mac and this is just an activation for it.

You would download the software from MS and use the code to register it, you have 30 days to register. Check that they can use Home & Student as it gives a significant saving, but always but from Amazon themselves not the Marketplace.0 -

Why is Outlook critical?
I have Macs and I do have MS Office including Outlook, however, while it works really well it doesn't *fully* integrate with the Mac.
I eventually stopped using it and went with Apple Mail, full integration and it does everything I need as a home user. It took me a while to get over Outlook withdrawal but it's not too painful. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -

I think outlook on Mac Office 2016 is supposed to be vastly improved, however not tested it myself yet so can't vouch but read here:

Yes I've heard that too but I don't think I'll bother trying it, I got my version through work but having taken early retirement that avenue is no longer open and I don't want it enough to pay for it :rotfl:One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -

Same here, get mine trough work. Wouldn't dream of wasting money on Office otherwise.

MS Office for mac doesn't have database software (Access) or Publisher. Other companies make special software like that for the mac market. NeoOffice is a free download that might fill the bill, but the mai MSE site has this useful page on free office software
