Dormer Bungalow does no qualify for insulation
We have just brought a house and it needs loft consultation and cavity wall.
However, British Gas's insulation offer for the loft does not apply as its a building that has had the loft altered. I informed this isn't the case and it was just built like that, its never had a loft conversion. However, he still said we don;t qualify (although the cavity wall bit is fine).
Does anyone have any ideas on this? To me its still just a normal loft and it won't need any specialist knowledge as the Gas guy claimed.
Cheers

How much of a loft is left?
They are probably doing a dubious calculation that shows, because there's not much flat loft floor (being in the apex of the dormer) there's less heat loss and carbon lost.
Unfortunately these calculations are extremely naive and ignore the basics of building physics.
Ask yourself the question: why would BG want to insulate your property? The whole scheme is a mess imo.
Anyway, back to the point, did they visit the property?0 -
Hi, Cheers for the feedback. Only booked the visit today and it won't be until 3rd Dec.0

So this was done over the phone? Then I guess they have some nonsense "can't insulate a loft in a dormer" rule.
If it comes down to it, do it yourself, it's not difficult and there's easy payback.0
