Accidental Missed Payment Halifax CCard

Hi,
My wife accidentally forgot to pay monthly payment for her Halifax Credit Card.
Last month they increased her limit because of being good customer and now she missed payment L
I can see on latest statement that Halifax cancelled her promo rates from 0% to 18.95%.
I have already made missing payment and changes fee.
Are there any chances that Halifax will be able to put back promo interest?
Just a half a year ago we have transferred balance from different card and should still have 24 months of this promotion L
Any suggestions?

My suggestion is to setup a Direct Debit, at least for the minimum amount, so you do not miss any payment.
As for the promotional rate, if you ask nicely they might re-instate it (have you rang them and asked?). But they are under no obligation to do so, and it is highly unlikely they will do so.0 -
Card is on my wifes name and she cannot call them just now.
I was wondering if anyone heard of them reinstating promotional rate.0 -
^^^ This.
It's standard practice across pretty much all card companies to remove the promotional rate if you miss a payment - as will have been stated in the T&Cs. All you can do is ring them up and ask them nicely if they'll reinstate it. Also bear in mind that a record of the missed payment will have been placed on your credit file - not the end of the world in itself, an isolated missed payment will not upset most lenders, but something to be aware of.0 -
It's part of the business model that a proportion of customers will miss a payment and start incurring interest. Probably most of them don't bother to call up and I expect some of those on DD don't bother to check their statements and don't even notice. (Yes you can miss a payment despite a DD - eg if you don't have the funds available, the DD wasn't set up in time, or it has expired through non-use).
So yes, ring them up and ask them to reinstate. Many posters here have reported having had deals reinstated.
Personally I think the time will come when this practice of removing a deal will be found to be unfair or even illegal. But we're not there yet. In the meantime I don't think CCs want complaints escalated and it's well worth making an occasional gesture to a good customer in order to keep them happy.
Incidentally, it may not have been reported. It depends when the CC makes a report and whether the account is behind at that time. A single missed payment on an account soon fades in importance.0 -
Always worth complaining: you've nothing to lose. Recently I've had two cards, both from 'well known' providers. Both made mistakes within a couple of months: one paid me 'sorry' monies totalling £160, and the other £120. Both are now closed.
Above started with your 'who complains?' poll. You left ou the 'I ALWAYS complain: keeps me busy and often generates a decent 'return' - see above.0 -

In this situation I have indeed had a promotional rate reinstated, although not with Halifax. You have done the right thing by making an immediate payment as soon as you noticed the problem: if she follows up with a polite and apologetic phone call I think the chances are fairly good. Obviously they are not obliged to restore the promo, so she would have to ask them to do so as a favour.0 -

Don't complain about this, since they have done nothing wrong.0 -

That is debatable. In my view, it is probably correct to apply a late charge and interest on late payments. It is disproportionate to remove a promotional deal for which (often) you've paid a fee up front. A more proportionate response would be to suspend a deal only whilst payments remain overdue.0 -
wee update...
Wife called Halifax (40mins long conversation), set up DD to make them and me happy
Again went through credit check and they gave back previous credit limit (not sure what for?)
And someone will contact her next week about promo rate as has to be submitted higher...
Will keep you posted in case more people will have same problem.
oh, and she paid AGAIN... as I paid in the morning...0 -

I agree with your main point, and I suppose this is a matter for the regulator. In relation to the OP's problem, Halifax have acted strictin in accordance with the T & Cs of the card and so it would not help to make a complaint.0
