Wednesday 14th October - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending! :money:

Morning all
Can't believe it's only Wednesday - I am so skint and the time until next payday seems to be dragging (still over a fortnight). Even though I'm mad busy at work the week is dragging over.
I've had to have the heating on for half an hour this morning - suspect this will now be a regular occurrence.
Hope everyone is doing well - hugs to those that need them.

Morning all,
Thanks to ccl for starting us off
OH did a fab job clearing out the room of doom and there's a nice big pile of stuff on the landing to be re-purposed, sold, given away or binned. The room looks really tidy and there's more space now.
He also KonMarie'd his t-shirts and is very pleased with the resulting tidy drawers.
I am going to a WI meeting tonight! I am quite excited as have never been before but am considering joining. The WI is quite far away and awkward to get to but I don't mind the journey.
So today's list:- Get OH to put washing out on line
- B/L/D from stores - done
- Charge phone in work - done
- Heating off - it's getting nippier but am determined to hold out.
- Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheet - done
- Check battery stash to see if I have 3xAA batteries for new alarm clock before buying more
- Submit meter readings
- Binned two disreputable pairs of undercrackers (Not mse but good for decluttering) - done
- Put washing away - done
Have a good one all

Morning all,
Busy morning so far, sorting out a big pile of admin & dealing with some financial stuff. So for today's money-saving list:
*Did mid-monthly budget check-in to see how things are going. We are slightly adrift, but nothing major. Checked off receipts against bank statements, you know, all the usual chores which keep us on the straight & narrow.
*Paid just over half off my CC. Usually clear it completely each month but the big dentistry visits stacked up the total, so have spread it over 2 months instead of eating into the buffer zone on our current account.
*Skimmed £2-78 from current account & PAD'd it across to Car Fund. Updated signature.
*Did a big pile of supermarket feedback prize draws. Does anyone ever win these? According to a member of staff in our Waitrose, 'Yes, they do, including customers from this store'. So, I shall carry on with them.
*Wrapped ebay item ready for posting tomorrow.
*Re-listed a few ebay items until my free ones ran out. I'm certainly not going to pay 35p to list something at £1-50.
*Did a few quick surveys.
*Postman brought my latest payment from Toluna surveys - another £15 Sainsbury's gift card. Updated signature.
*Tackled Home Insurance renewal quote. Compared it with purchasing the identical policy online from same provider as a new customer. Hmmm. A difference of £164. Would I go outside & poke that amount of money down the drain? I would not. Phoned them to say I would be cancelling the policy & buying a new one as a new customer. (I said a few other things too, but he was a helpful chap, agreed with my views on showing reciprocal loyalty to existing customers, & it isn't his fault, so I only went to a Level 1 of Foxgloves Assertiveness on this occasion). Anyway, have now bought the new policy - just got to double check they have cancelled my DD on Fri, after this year's last payment has been taken. A faff for them, a faff for me, if these companies could only stop using 'It's industry standard' for these discrepancies, I think we'd all look upon the insurance sector much more favourably. Grrrr! Monthly payments look to be at least £10 lower doing it this way.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch. Must check if mr f also needs a packed breakfast as it's my car day tomorrow, & it's a waste of cash buying baked breakfast items when we've got all the stuff at home.
*Get lift from mr f for town tonight. I have to attend a meeting & I'd rather not pay parking as can't claim it back.
*Knit some more Christmas present. I could get the back finished & the front cast on today if I get my finger out.
OK, that will do me, I've got to do a bit of meeting prep & want some leisure time too, so enough time online today.
CCL - I agree that pay-day is taking its time this month. If I knew a spell for hastening pay-day, I would defo be using it :-)
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Hello there cyber friends,
Hope everything with you is a-ok
Here's me:
Ordered a ‘warehouse deal’ from the rainforest people – saved £15 for damaged packaging :T
Brekkie at home – no croissants for me
Packed lunch
Posted council tax info away – really hoping we can start paying in Nov rather than Dec...
Class planning tonight – yoga classes on Thurs and Friday
Jumper on rather than heating up
Lots of free walking exercise
Free tea courtesy of my very generous employer
Washing on 30min 30deg wash
Bought a clothes line rather than ‘spensive whirly gig and not even plugged in the tumble dryer in our new house
