ADSL modem/router help

I have been using a Netgear ADSL modem wireless router DG834PN which has stopped working (lights go on and off but never stabilise, I can't even log in to it from my computer that is connected to it by ethernet). I've got internet back by digging out an old modem wireless router whose wireless has failed. So I now have internet on a desktop computer but no wifi for my wireless devices.
My BT cabinet is due to become 'superfast broadband' enabled by 31st December and I will switch to that service as quickly as possible, as long as the local exchange still has capacity (other cabinets in the area have already been enabled).
For now I "need" a wireless solution that is either cheap or one that I can continue to utilise after the switch to 'superfast'. (since the wireless part of my current solution has failed I'm not entirely confident that the modem I'm using will last until December).
Advice and suggestions would be much appreciated.

1 failure is unusual, 2 is very unusual
reset the first one, and or elaborate what is failing, and how the wireless failed on no2
isp's normally throw free routers in customers direction at every opportunityDon't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -
A used replacement for a couple of months could be an option.1 failure is unusual, 2 is very unusual

I'll try the reset - It failed by seeming to drop the internet connection every 2 or 3 minutes. Initially I could log into the modem/router (hard wired connection not wireless) but after a couple of minutes it could no longer be seen by the computer. I powered down the router and then re-connected but all it did was run a loop of trying to initialise itself.
If I remember correctly the modem router I'm using now started to drop wireless connections and I found it was quite warm, after a little internet investigation I concluded that the wireless module inside was overheating and I replaced the modem/router with the current one. Fortunately I kept it in the back of a cupboard 'just in case'.
I don't know what my isp will provide when I order my 'superfast broadband' connection or how long it will be before that happens.0 -

As all you need is a stopgap solution you could take a look at charity shops and car boot sales as there are often wireless ADSL routers on sale. Don't pay more that £2 to £3 though as whatever you get may be junk and check on the model before buying.
Friends or neighbours may have a spare too.0 -
I'd add Freecycle to the above post. Many people might have an old router as they have updated to fibre.0
