CCJ on my Credit report but not mine. What do I do

I have recently carried out a credit check with Experian as my mortgage term was coming to an end and when I went to renegotiate it with my current lender the interest rate was extremeley high, when I questioned this they advised me that I was high risk and that I needed to get a credit report done to see what it was. I did this as I have never has any debt against my name so I was confused. The credit check brought back 1 negative which was a CCJ for £200 but It was not actually in my name it was in my fathers name who has never lived with us. I immediately rang Experian and asked them why they had attached another persons CCJ to my name, they informed me it was because my middle name was the same as my fathers first name. They advised me to get my father to write them a letter admitting liability and to send some ID. This was done over a week ago and they have still not taken it off my credit report. After speaking to the Obmudsom they have advised me that it is actually illegal what experian have done as it is not in my name. They have also told me that even it this CCJ is removed from my file it will still show as a foot print on my record and affect my credit for 6 years. Surely this can not be the case. My mortgage has now gone on to a high interest rate while we are in the process of having this removed which has doubled our payment. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what advice do you have for me. does it take long to remove. Thanks

CRAs and quality control. The terms don't sit well together. If you've suffered any financial loss consider suing the blighters.0 -
