A friend has got a missing TRV head. Are these universal or do they need to match the plumbed in fitting?. Her heating is also on constantly regardless of the wall thermostat setting so its suspected the thermostat has failed. Its a simple dial type. Are these universal and easy to fit?.

Best try to fit like for like if you can. It'll save you possibly having to do any plumbing work0

Bump. Removed the thermostat cover today and found it is not connected. As the wires are cut flush I expect its from the previous system. Alongside the boiler is what I suspect is a receiver for a wireless thermostat. There doesn't seem to be a sender unit anywhere. Are these normally battery operated and easily lost by tenants?. The system is possibly 10 years old. As there are timer controls on the boiler the sender unit only needs to function as a thermostat which should hopefully be cheaper to replace. The only senders I've seen are fully programmable units with digital displays. Are simpler units available at a cheaper price?0
