Sounds like something rotten in the state of Denmark to me! I'm in the process of doing a DRB (incidentally you cannot as an individual or sole trader do a DRB on yourself) with a local school to do some voluntary work with an after school club (really looking forward to it!) and had offered to pay for it myself, however the school has said they will cover the cost.

Obviously before offering, I checked the cost which is £44 for DRB. I've already done Disclosure Scotland for other reasons to do with my paid work and as I recall that was about £27 at the time.
Er you mean DBS check and you are incorrect you can do one for yourself although basic

A residential care home for elderly have applied a DBS check for me as I am looking for a care assistant job. Even though I was not sure about getting the job, the home manager has told me that I should pay her 65 for the DBS check, which I gave her in Cash. Three months after, I have not yet received any thing. I have requested several times to provide me a reference number, but according to her, she didnt receive it when she has submitted the form. Then I decided to chase it my self. I called the tracking system and provided my details, but they can't find me. According to them, the form hasn't been submitted. Now I am confuse and quite annoyed. the lady who got my money refused to provide me any details that can help me to find about the form. On the other hand she accuse me of being impatient and now she declared that she wont hire me.
When I asked her about reference number, she insists its something she doesnt have it as it is something you receive after the first stage.
Can any one provide me advice about this? I called the Dbs office three times and three different people have confirmed that I am not in their system. They search me using my fisrt name, last name, DOB, postcode and every other detail I could provide them

I think you have been had there, as any CRB/DBS that I have had to fill in a form for over the years (and there have been many, many to fill in), the reference number is printed in the top corner of the front page of the form. Not sure what she means by after the first stage.

    Get the money back.

Since you must supply 5 years addresses etc and sign the form, there is no way it's be submitted.

in the future, if employer ants you to pay for it, tell them to deduct it out of your future wages.
