Yup, I keep track using a spreadsheet.

If you want to track usage then you should track that - you don't want to track tariff changes. I tend to use the one rounded price per kWh and use it for ages rather than mess around.

Although fancy spreadsheets are available it is probably easier to just keep one yourself. My one the first columns track usage since the previous reading on the row immediately above then there are another couple of columns using $ $ to track cumulative use since a fixed date.
  • Thanks for the replies I'm not after a fancy one just something so that when I put readings in I know how much I've used in money really do I can keep eye on spends.

If you don't need anything fancy, and setting up a basic spreadsheet is too taxing, how about a pen (or pencil) and paper? :)

I just set up my own in Excel. I've started to record usage on one tab, which is just a list of dates and readings, and as an easy way of looking at costs after setting up the mathematical functions on another tab.

I've never had mains gas before and wanted to keep an eye on my usage/costs, and to make sure my supplier was getting their bills right. It'll also be handy to have the info at hand to decide whether I need to switch suppliers.
