Is that because you don't believe in democracy and would rather a few over-privileged unelected do gooders decided what is best for you rather than the people you voted for?
You don't need to be elected to know (contrary to politicians' general behaviour) that it is undemocratic to lie through one's teeth.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

What was the lie? I thought we voted for this....Left is never right but I always am.0

hopefully there were no LibDem lords who were outraged at lying to the electorate (some might remember a very specific promise about uni fees)
It's a bit different with the lib dems. They were in a coalition, not a majority government.
As for weapons of mass destruction - yes, lies, but not lies in an election campaign to gain votes. And were not totally sure to this day whether it was outright lies or not.0 -

so lies are relative : those in an election campaign count for more than lies that send our boys to die in Iraq.
Clegg said he had GENUINELY changed his mind about student fees and NOT because it was a coalition. (of course not unlike Labour a few years before.)
anyway I will try to remember that lies don't count unless they are in an election campaign.0 -

Lies aside, it was still voted for in the commons by MPs. There's no law saying governments can only do things set out in their manifesto, or cannot do things they said they wouldn't.
It's up to each individual elected MP to decide whether to back or reject the legislation, hopefully on the basis of what's best for their constituents (ok, I'm being naive)."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxS-Tow-QikPre-general election television clippings have exposed Prime Minister David Cameron's "lies" about his party's proposal to reduce child tax credits.
During a special episode of BBC's Question Time, aired in April, presenter David Dimbleby asks: "There are some people that are worried about you cutting child tax credits, are you saying absolutely as a guarantee that you'd never have it?"
To which the Prime Minister responds: "First of all child tax credit we increased by 450 pounds..." Dimbleby interjects: "And it's not going to fall?" to which the PM replies: "Its not going to fall."0 -
Er......he already has. That's what the controversy with the Lords blocking financial legislation is about. I do hope you're not a real MP.
He tried to back door it through commons, had he added it to the finance bill then this wouldn't have happened.
Either way, he looks a bit daft now.0 -
