Emails pushed forward on phone

Previously, my emails (gmail) were pushed forward on my phone, and I got a notification of new emails.
At the weekend I put the phone into emergency power saving mode, and this turned off email stuff. Does anyone know how I turn it back on?

It sounds like the Sync Gmail setting has been turned off. I don't know how you get at it on a Samsung, but in native Android (5.1.1) it's Settings | Accounts | Personal | Account Settings | your Gmail account | tick box for Sync Gmail.0
