Is being asked to change hours and relocate classed as suitable alternative?

I have been a remote office worker for 9 years. I start work when the physical office closes for 4 hours. Emails, calls, orders general office work, I look after a different time zone, so works for me and them till now, I work in the evening and only me does this job.

They say now they need to grow the business and having me in the same location as all other departments they think will do this. A lot of staff in the office are leaving that do what I do for a different set of customers, I think there is more of an agenda to use me to fill the gaps.

Last week I was told they want To move me to the physical office. So change my location from home to office, change my hours from evening to day.

I have a small 2 hour job else where in the middle of the day which I have done for 11 years, I said I would not be willing to give this up to do my 4 hours in the office.

I did suggest that I would be willing to take redundancy as it seems pretty clear they don't want my role as it is to continue. This seems not to be something they want to happen, I just got we don't want to lose you.

It's now been suggested my hours are cut by 50% and I work 2 hours from home and someone in the office does the other 2. So a 50% cut in pay. Neither options are suitable to me, am I being unreasonable here?

From what I have described, should they be offering redundancy? Is a change in work location, cut in hours and time hours are worked enough for these changes to be deemed unsuitable.

Many thanks for any help and what I should do next. I'm so upset, they have said they don't want to lose me but I feel I'm being pushed into a corner.

How far is the office time/distance?

What is in the contract about location?

What is in the contract about hours?

The cut on hours would be the main reason for not being a suitable alternative.

    Are you busy?

What plans do they have to cover what you do now?

If you believe they are short because of people leaving why not put a counter proposal.

Do your current job and extra to support the growth recruitment/training.

    Or is the business shrinking?

One of the best ways to kill a company is to loose a lot of staff who know what they are doing.
