I am having problems with my Win 10 laptop - in that when I try to uninstall AVG, to install Avast - I get a windows error message informing me that I can't complete the task - due to another installation taking place !!
I also discovered, yesterday, that I am unable to install the correct USB charger drivers for the same reason
I have checked for any other installations using the Task Manager and found none
Is this a known issue with Win 10 or is there another way to check for any other installations taking place ?

Clean boot then delete the in process installation from the registry.
