Virgin credit card

I recently took out virgins % card on purchases for 23 months....great I thought so bought £1200 of dollars at local sainsburys ...just got hit with £74 charges which are based on daily charge...so annoyed with myself that I didn't realise that by buying currency its looked upon as getting cash out of a ATM...as far as I was concerned it's a purchase apparently not...so just paid the amount straight off as was not prepared to pay daily charge on a free purchases card!

No reason why they should. They've not broken their credit agreement in any way.

Damn, I was going to do a PayPal payment to a friend. Does that mean it's not covered under the 24 months,

On what basis would you expect this NOT to be a cash transaction? You are buying money.

Not sure about Virgin but I've done a PayPal transfer using my Nationwide CC and not had a cash transaction charge applied.

Marks and Spencer are one of the best credit cards to use. With them you do not pay any upfront charges for foreign currency and if paid off by the due date no fees at all.
