You're wording it very badly though.

This "I knocked a kid off his bike." sounds terrible.

Whereas " A kid on a bike shot across the road from between parked cars and hit me." puts a completely different light on it.

"He fell on the ground but was uninjured." finishes it off.

If that is a better (but still truthful account) you should submit that to your insurance company.

It puts the reason for the incident totally on the other party's side.
  • Did they get the car registration?

How much extra it will cost, £150 to £300 for 3 up to 5 years.

    Have you got protected NCD?

If you want to report it to the insurance company, get your NCD protected and then report it.

And you believe the insurance company will allow you to report an accident from before you protected the NCD and not then alter your premium? Dream on!

No doubt if you declare it, your premium will shoot through the roof though. You can't win. It's always your fault.

Even if the insurance company allowed that, it wouldn't stop the OP's premium rising.
In the event of a claim, protected NCD simply means that your discount won't always all be lost. The base premium will still rise to reflect the higher risk now posed by the policyholder.

Does the cyclist or their parent have your details? If not, I'd keep quiet as they will never be able to raise a claim so pointless letting that follow you around for the next 5 years
