Can you look up a credit file of someone else?

Trying to find out info on a family member who is ill. Can you look up equifax, experian etc on somebody else. From their site I cant see you can do this. Thanks.

    It can be done on Clearscore if you know their credit history but I'm not sure if it's a good idea though.

    I'm not sure on the legalities of looking up someone else's credit file, whether it's a family member or not.

    You can't do it, well, not above board anyway. Of course there's hundreds of thousands of people who can do it on the back of the organisation they work for, not to mention many arms of the State, the NSA and loads, loads more (and none of them need the data subject's permission). You just need to approach the right person - not that I'm suggesting you do so :rotfl:

    Alternatively you could wait 'till Experian has been hacked, then stuff will be much more widely available.
