Asbestos removal quote

Options
What would be a fair quote for removal of an asbestos partition wall in our kitchen? It's at the moment undamaged and about 2.5 m by 1.5 m. Contains amosite and chrysotile, it's a grey/white insulation board less than 1 cm thick.

Also not sure how to go about finding a company for such a small job- HSE website only lists big companies and google keeps bringing up survey companies which test only and do not remove.

Any help will be much appreciated.
Since the screws are not visible and the boards seem more than 1 m2 in size I do not want to have a go at it myself.

    Hi Mokka,

I'm afraid that because of the type of material (board) it is a licensed, notifiable product and therefore has to be removed under fully controlled conditions (airtight enclosure with negative pressure) and will also need an certificate of reoccupation/ clearance airtest once the work is complete. It's not a small, or cheap job.

If you google ARCA it is the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association, and all licensed companies are listed on there.

I work for an asbestos removal company, if I'm honest we are not the cheapest so I can't tell you what exactly the cost would be, but I would say you are looking at figures over £1000 with the air test included (if you can get a quote of under £1000 including air test, I'd jump at it!)

Please also remember that the big companies still do little jobs, and because of the size of the company their man-day rate will be less so that could work in your favour.

    Hope that helps,
