Expired button misuse for incorrectly posted/dupes/self-promotion

Please can whoever is using the "expired" button to remove comps from the main board due to incorrect title listing stop doing this.

This is only going to result in people missing out on competitions.

The expired button is for competitions which have ENDED only.

If you wish to inform someone that they have posted incorrectly and wish to request the title be changed, please DM them and politely request this change. It is unlikely that a poster will revisit the thread that they have posted to see your replies to their original post. A DM will appear on their screen enabling them to see their error and to change it.

Another problem is that the expired button is being misused for dupes.

Dupes need to have a merge request submitted to a BG Please do not click expired for these posts as people can dupe themselves!

Self-promotion posts need to be reported to MSE Admin via: forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com Please not click expired for these posts!

hi, maybe a good time to ask for this to be reviewed &
the numbers put back to the way they used to be to help stop it happening,

Editing the Expired button in Compers Forum to help BG's out a bit


as it's happening a lot lately & to keep sending pm's to bg's for
move back requests/merges to be done on ones that have
been sent to GO & reposted etc takes a lot of time up.

each time it happens I pm one-eye/glad & know one-eye
has also been sending requests for it to be moved back,
usually I don't 'bump' the thread when sent but the last time I did,

I wonder whether it would be better if the expired button is removed completely from public use.

Perhaps it would be better if a one-click expired button was only available to say 10 users who have used the board for a long time and are trusted to use this button properly?
