Paying tax and nic on mat pay after redundancy

Hi
Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice.
I was made redundant on 24/7/15 (all above board, the place closed down). At that time I was still on paid maternity leave (smp) and will be until the end of this month. Since I was made redundant I have been taxed on my mat pay as my previous employer said they had to put me on a tax code since I was no longer an employee. The tax office have advised me to send a p50 and my p45 to get a refund. My problem is the tax I have overpaid does not show on my p45 because the p45 is from when I was made redundant, but all the tax has been paid after this point! So I don't know what I'm supposed to do, and whether I should send them my payslips as well which show the tax I've paid.
I've also paid national insurance contributions since I've been made redundant, between 30 - 45 pounds each pay period. I don't know if this is right? My mat pay was only 407.88 a month.
