scottish power - any limit to number of meter readings entered online?

Just wondering if any one knows, is there a limit to how many meter readings can be submitted for my electrical supply for scottish power.

To ensure i know i am on track and as i am still getting used to my usage etc for this flat (not to mention I'm on elec only fuel here)Ii like to submit more frequent elec meter readings to their online service (i.e. weekly or fortnightly etc instead of monthly).

So far had no problems doing this but wondered if there was any limits to how many can be submitted in a period of time

  • I don't think even daily should be a problem.

Thanks, will carry on as I hav been and hope it is fine, was just concerned it could cause an issue as each meter reading generates a "bill" so was worried there is a limited number of bills/readings in a set period.

I do my readings at the same time each month, usually right before my monthly statement from OVO is generated so I know it's accurate. It might be an idea to read yours like this too, say the 1st of every month.

Thanks for the replies, i ended up tweeting scottish power and they've advised there is no limits so will be able to submit every couple of weeks. As its an all electric property prefer to be able to do it regularly so that i can monitor usage, especially as winter draws in and the heating will be needed at times.

I've always wondered do you need to actually enter meter readings... Can they do anything if you don't enter them.

I know they soemtimes send people to your home..

The accuracy of your bill is entirely proportional to your meter readings. The inverse of this is the inaccuracy of your bills is proportional to your lack of meter readings. A sure way of getting hit with a massive bill is to allow an electric only [in the O/P's case] summer average to go into the winter when the costs will be double those of the summer months.

very true, as i hardly use any electricity in the summer but come the winter i know it will go sky high. because of this low summer usage on a number of occasions scottish power have tried to reduce the direct debit despite me confirming that it is an electric only property and once the radiators etc are on will go a lot higher. If left to their devices i would be paying no where near the right direct debit level to allow a buffer for extra winter usage.

Also i find putting regular readings through has given me a better understanding of what uses more or less electricity and the actual cost - it certainly makes me more aware of what i leave on out of laziness vs what i need to leave on.

As the tariff is an eco 7 tariff as well it allows me to monitor the actual usage night vs day as well to ensure it makes sense for me to be on that still - it also means that i am more alert to using electricity at the cheaper rate - for instance charging phone, laptop, iPads, electric toothbrush etc on eco seven hours using plug in timers etc (every little helps and is amazing how much difference it can make).

You will see that with a heavy user, spring and summer uses little and the account is well in credit whereas the account in the above case should end with only an estimated £16 in credit at the end point of 12 months CAC. NOTE the graph shows the winter as 2014 and the Autumn 2015 not yet complete.

There are lots of big hitters on use is a plasma screen rather than an LED, here the plasma can be twice an LED and retirement plasma TV's can be a massive cost as they are core unit priced use.
