Is my ipad2 dying?

Options
My iPad, bought November 2012, is playing up. The safari goes off, not to the home screen but to a faded version of the background.

I've double tapped the home button and swished off anything I'm not using at the time.

It keeps doing it, though.

Is it worth a trip to an Apple Store and, potentially, expensive repair. Or is there anything else I could try?

Backup data and Factory reset is what i would try first .

    And Facebook.

Yes, a reset is worth trying. My phone and MacBook are synchronised through iCloud, I believe.

    Thanks, JJ.

Ipad2 does struggle with the latest ios upgrade. Unfortunately its now older technology.

I have tried downloading a couple of apps recently and they aren't ipad2 compatible.

Start with a full back up and reset, but you may still encounter problems.

I haven't upgraded to iOS9, thinking the same thing.

Would it help to get rid of some rarely used spps?

    Another question, please.

Do I use iTunes on the MacBook to reboot the iPad?

JJ and Dave, just a thank you.

A simple restart worked, tried it before a reset.
