Cockspur window handles which ones?

Hi I need to replace some window handles and have decided that I need 9mm Cockspur handles.
Where is the best place to get them and which make is the best / strongest?
I have looked on Ebay and there seems quite a choice but not sure of reliability.

Do I need special screws?

thanks

  • I've bought replacement handles from handlestore.com before. No complaints.

    Thanks
Are there some makes that are more reputable than others?
Are they meant to have a kite mark or something similar?

  • No idea to be honest. I just needed to replace some brass upvc window handles who chrome ones and they seemed like a decent price. Quality is fine.

    Thanks for the reply.
    Maybe I'm over thinking things.

This is a downstairs window and I wanted to make sure that the replacement handle was strong.

The new handle needs to be screwed into an aluminium window frame so I was wondering which sort of screws would stay in place and not pull straight out.

I have cobbled together something for tonight but it isn't very robust.

If you can't find a correct screw to hold the handles on, then the alternative is a pop rivet gun. Just make sure that you get the right sized rivets for the handles, and that the holes in the frame are also only just big enough to poke the rivet through.

Once riveted on, nothing short of drilling them out will remove them.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
