Woodchip

Doing up an old house which had been woodchipped to death. Got a steamer and removed the woodchip in the bedrooms - which mostly ended up having to be replastered! There is woodchip on the stairs/landing too and some of it is difficult to get to. Would probably need to hire a decorator and might need to replaster.
Running out of time, patience and money and I'm thinking 'paint it up and forget about it'.
Is leaving on woodchip an unforgiveable sin? Does anyone else live with it?

Its still in situ in my old house.
Only in the stairs/landings. As you say its a nightmare to remove.
Its painted in a cream colour at the moment, but its been light green/pink/yellow and white over the years.63 mortgage payments to go.

This house was covered in the stuff, layer upon layer. There is woodchip still on the ceilings, hidden by hideous ceiling tiles, am having to hire a plasterer to skim the ceiling on that one. So still a way to go before we are completely rid of it.
It is a sin to leave it of cover over it, because no matter how you hide it, you know its still there, waiting to be stripped.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I always found a steam stripper to do more harm than good with wood chip wallpaper.
Soak it well with warm water leave for 20 minutes then wet again and start scraping, works for me.0 -
Ha ha, yes it's a sin to leave that horrible carp on the walls. We had it on nearly every wall in our house. It has proved far easier to hack the whole lot off, plaster n'all, as there's no doubt that who ever put it up, did so to cover/hold the carp plaster onto the walls. As you've found out it takes the plaster with it so just hack the lot off. We still have some on our stairs and landing, but they are our last rooms to do so it'll get done when we've saved up again.0

You also need to score the woodchip paper............
Then give it a good soaking0
