Free Motor Legal Cover

It's that time of year again and I have to look at car Insurance. My insurance is very cheap. £150 or less but I think paying £30 extra for motor legal cover for each of the cars in the household is a bit steep.

I have come across freemotorlegal.co.uk which offers to provide the same service free to me.

There are also companies offering motor legal protection policies for £6.75 and up.

Can anyone tell me if these are a good idea? has anyone used them/ what is the catch?

No recommendations for it, and the only good word comes from the guy who owns it.

I've read the linked correspondence. So they are a claims management company, and they don't offer some of the facilities of my £30 p.a. cover.

What about the low cost ones at £6-7 Are they any good?

£6.75 pa for the 'bronze' cover. DAS do it I think.

I wouldn't go for the free one, and the £6.75 one sounds not much better. Their silver level at least offers motoring conviction cover.

I would also be looking for contractual dispute cover which seems to be normal on DAS but not on bestprice version of DAS.
