O/S Daily Thread for Sunday 11th Oct

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Flying visit from me this morning.
We're up, showered, dressed, breakfasted, fish fed, WM & DW doing their thing.
We are off to visit MIL and also to try to get BIL to come too, we might need a cattle prod!
I'm doing the driving, hubby can do the persuading, I'm likely to crack him around the head & tell him to man up!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Beautiful bright day here, first load is on the line and another in the wm with a towel load to follow should all dry well today.

Wont be doing too much today going to have an easy day with maybe a film this afternoon, although OH will have to mow the lawn hopefully for the last time this year !

We went out for lunch yesterday as a family it was two years since we lost dad, we had a nice ride out into the country and lunch at a pub that dad loved, I think it did mum good not to be sitting alone and thinking too much.

Not even thought about dinner, I might do a pasta bake, prepare it this morning then just shove in the oven later and do a salad.

Hester I hope MIL is ok and that BIL is persuaded to visit, we had the same with my brother and dad in the end it took some very plain talking and we said he had to go and say good bye, I think he was scared (they are all little boys !!)

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning all. A flying visit from me too. Off to have a rummage around TKMaxx shortly. Primarily to see if they have any of the Anne Geddes bean filled dolls in. Middle DGD has a small collection that I have bought her for birthdays and Xmas over the last couple of years and she has requested another for her 7th birthday next week. On Amazon they are between £30 - £36 but I have got them in TKM for about £9. I'll see what else I can see for her whilst I'm there.

I pegged two WM loads out when it became light, on the strength of the forecast sun coming out. I'm still waiting! Meanwhile the washing is just hanging limp, looking as wet as when it went out! I'm thinking the days of pegging out are dwindling now until next Spring.

I've made a Pasta Bake to warm up for lunch when I get back. I'll probably do a bit of salad with mine. Mr TA is gradually eating a little more, day by day, thanks to either the Oramorph or restarting the Octreotide injections. Or perhaps both! Whichever it is, it's good to see!

Have a good Sunday all ((((HUGS)))) if wanted/needed. Take care all xx

    Morning :hello:

I still haven't found out where the ash came from the other day, but apparantly there was a fire nearby, early morning. Three different people, who all insist they are correct, have told me three different stories – a car, a large conifer or the fire station itself. Mystery not solved then :D

I've bought myself some leggings, jumpers, socks, vest tops and boots. Oh and a pair of slippers. I'm going to be cosy warm this winter :D

We now have vinyl on the bathroom floor, we're getting there slowly.

I've had the heating on occasionally, but it's on properly now. I've been so cold the last few mornings.

Mr tru's going out to see the Vulcan so I'll have a peaceful afternoon. I discovered Luther on On Demand – how did I miss that when it was first shown? It's fab :D So I'll be watching a couple of episodes while crocheting. The jumper will be put to one side for today, I have to keep counting stitches and checking the size, I don't want to have to think that much, lol. I'll start a blanket, once I've done the first row I can carry on without much thought, I can just do :D

    Morning all,

passing through briefly. Yesterday was pretty hectic. Food shopping and visited two of the Grandchildren. Its eldest Grandsons Mothers birthday in a few days and i asked hubby if he would give him some money to get his Mum a card and a small token gift for her birthday. Last year it really hit his Mum hard when she didnt even get a card from him so i wanted to make sure it didnt happen again through a lack of money. Youngest Grandson has a chesty cough, it was coming on when i had him on Thursday.

Neither hubby and i have slept much whilst he has been at home. Its hard sleeping together when we spend such a lot of time sleeping apart.

Need to pop out today to get a few bits and pieces and the men will be packing for their week working away.

Visited Mom last night. She was on top form, very happy and healthy. We sat together watching 'Keeping up Appearances'. She used to love that programme and it was evident from the look on her face, she still does.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

Washing machine has just finished and I have loaded the dishwasher ready to go.

I have had a nice long shower, looked out clothes and washed my hair. Decided not to bother with breakfast as such but to have a low syn brunch instead. No family coming today as we are having a family meal and catch up tomorrow night instead. Hope middle dd is having a good time with her friends and youngest is not too worried about starting her new job tomorrow.

One of oldest is supposed to be coming round to pick up a chair if she can get a lift from someone with a van so may be round this afternoon.

I found an omnibus programme of NCIS and SVU Law and Order last night and before I realised it was nearly two a.m. Thoroughly enjoyed it though.

I am going to hang out the washing then make a brunch and won't know when I can pop out for veg etc till later. I did manage to use up two packets of quorn from the freezer last night and have three frozen meals for dd as well as my meal last night.

    TA

I am so pleased your DH is eating better :j

    Hugs to all

  • Good Morning everyone it's another lovely sunny day here today with a nice little breeze blowing. It's a day for tidying up and finishing I feel, I've just picked the last of the outdoor tomatoes and the plants will be coming out this afternoon, He Who Knows has been to the allotment and we have the last of the sweetcorn for lunch today, it was going to be tomato soup but the sweetcorn are so much better just picked, and the last of the courgette plants has been removed. The butternut harvest is almost in, and the plots are dug over leaving leeks and parsnips for the winter outside and a couple of decent stands or parsley, some beetroot and rows of carrots in the polytunnel for the winter. Autumn really is upon us.

I have a gooseberry crumble ready to go in the oven for supper and have a rice pudding simmering on the hob so that's the next few days catered for, tomorrow we are popping up to the big T*sco for some Marmade orange concentrate so I can make us a years worth of marmalade, I've got the sugar and the jars and the space. It's still too warm for comfort at night here in the south and I'm hoping that the cooler weather forecast for this coming week might mean I get a better nights sleep than of late, we'll see' I had a jubilant phone call from DD2 a couple of days ago, she's just had confirmation that she passed the very last assessment she'll ever have to do for training and becoming a fully qualified GP. In her words ' Thank goodness for that I'll never have to look at my E.Portfolio ever again, thank goodness!' I'm so proud of her, it's a long apprenticeship for medicine as a career and having started at 18 for her degree she now is 31 and finally fully qualified. Brilliant feeling!

Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.

That is great news!:j:j:j Well done to your daughter.

Put dishwasher on while I hang out the laundry and when I got back inside it seems to be stuck at the start of a programme

I decided to have a sit down before trying to reset it and getting flustered. All the electronics are very impressive but sometimes I long for a simple switch!!!!

    Hugs to all

    Afternoon

Lazy day for me today , I'm up washed and dressed and the house is clean so I'm just blobbing on the sofa and surfing the net :D:o

The WM is on and hopefully it will dry on the line .

DD2 has lost her work keys so I need to have a good look round for those , she has a habit of just dropping stuff as she walks in so they will probably be in the dining room

Freezer meal for dinner, I'm working through the stuff in my freezer I think there is at least 2 weeks worth of meals, we've done a week already and there is still plenty . I added 2 portions of base mince in as well the other day :D

mrs L congrats to Dd she has done fantastically well x

Have a lovely afternoon everyone xx
