As the water bill is currently in both your names, I wouldn't be too sure you are not financially associated0

Complain to Ofwat as Southern Water are one of the worst in the country for complaints?
Would these be good moves?
Yes, unless you have a joint financial product with your wife - mortgage, joint account etc. you are not financially linked and the water company has no business creating such a link. I'm guessing they will reject your order banning them from reporting you to the CRAs but try and argue they have no legitimate interest unless you default.0 -

Check it out. For water companies and domestic consumers there are none. They operate as a monopoly and are obliged to supply you. At least that is my understanding at the moment.0 -
I had a joint water bill with an ex partner of mine who simply moved out. I phoned them up and told them some story of how I didn't know where he was (I did but couldn't bother with the hassle). They removed him. There was never any association financially on my credit report but I have no idea why as I thought there should have been. I even have a financial association to some old housemates of mine from what I saw.0
