    You don't need to turn them off individually to do that......Just do it when the laptop is turned off.
    Or am I missing something????

    yes your missing the point i want to take the buttons off to clean them like you can remove a key i just wondered how they come off

    Different models may have them attached in different ways, and you may need to disassemble the laptop to get at them.

    I don't know about your particular one.

    Ah, apologies, that's why I asked the question. All is now clear.
    They are usually secured by a couple of tabs each side of the key. You can sometimes just pop them off with very thin blade. However, the risk is entirely your own.:)

    the buttons do still work but when you press them you dont get that positive click and the feel that the buttons worked. if that makes sense.
